Epworth Choir is seeking a new Musical Director starting in September 2026 to succeed Charlie Perry who is stepping down after three successful years.
We rehearse in Woking on Wednesday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm with a professional accompanist. The rehearsal venue is 10 minutes walk from Woking train station which is 20 minutes from London Waterloo. We perform a spectrum of music ranging from major choral works with professional soloists and orchestras, to popular music and carols at venues in Woking and surrounding areas. As well as regular rehearsals and three or four annual concerts, the Choir supports local events, and we enjoy hosting vocal workshops and ‘come and sing’ events. In March 2026 we invited another local choir to join us in a performance of Haydn’s Creation. In 2028 we will celebrate 70 years of the Choir with a major concert which the new Musical Director will help to organise.
The new Musical Director will play a vital role in shaping the choir’s future programme and strategy. The ideal candidate will be ambitious and energetic with a good sense of humour and a positive and motivational approach to rehearsals. They will have the skills to engage with an amateur choir of varying ability whilst developing the choir’s repertoire, musical interpretation and concert standards. Key attributes should include a wide knowledge of traditional and modern repertoire and experience working with and sourcing a professional orchestra and soloists.

Closing date for applications is 5th June 2026, interviews will take place on Saturday 20th June in Woking.
